Dental Hygiene Visits
A comprehensive exam will be completed by our dentist which includes an oral cancer screening. He will have a conversation with you about his findings and about your oral health concerns, goals, and wishes. If a treatment plan is required (in addition to your regular cleaning appointments), one will be completed with your input.
What to Expect During a Routine Dental Appointment
- Cleaning and Dental Exams – Regular preventive care will help them enjoy low-key dental visits, teach them the importance of oral care, and ensure they have a disease-free smile. They will learn to protect their oral health throughout their life.
- Digital X-rays – Early imaging of your teeth helps us to anticipate eruption patterns, teeth development, and to catch decay so that gentle treatment is earlier and less invasive.
- Dental Sealants for Children – What a great way to protect your child’s back teeth. Sealants block cavity-causing bacteria from the deep grooves in the chewing surface, making teeth easier to clean.
- Fluoride Treatments for Adults and Children – We help strengthen weaker primary (baby) teeth with fluoride. It encourages proper enamel formation and strengthens it.
What’s involved with professional dental cleanings?
Our kind and experienced dental hygienist will examine your teeth and gums, and ensure that plaque and tartar are effectively and safely removed with specialized dental instruments. Our hygienist will then polish and floss your teeth to remove any remaining plaque and bacteria before adding fluoride to strengthen and protect your teeth.
Should there be cause for concern, we may also recommend that one or more x-rays be taken to evaluate the health of your teeth, gums, and/or jawbone.
What benefits are associated with undergoing regular professional cleanings?
There are many! Not only do they help keep your teeth and gums healthy, but they can also help prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and other health issues related to oral hygiene. Professional cleanings can also remove surface stains caused by food and drinks, so you’ll have a brighter smile, too!
Who is a candidate for professional cleanings?
Everyone! In general, patients are advised to have a professional cleaning performed every six months. However, if you have a higher risk of dental issues, including cavities or gum disease, our experts may advise that you undergo more frequent cleanings.
